Step 1. Lead-in

Think about the advantages and disadvantages of the new energy vehicles and gasoline-powered vehicles.

Step 2: Pre-listening

Watch a video about smog and learn the new words: forecast, smog, smoggy, coal.

Step 3: While-listening  

1.   Listen and choose

Listen to the tape and choose the right answer to grasp the structure of how to describe the environmental problems.

2.   Listen and fill

Listen carefully to the detailed information and fill in the form. Remind students to pay attention to the word forms.

Step 4: Post-listening

1.   Summarize and retell.

Summarize the conversation and retell it according the mind map.

2.   Make a speech.

Show some pictures about the environmental problems. Then choose one problem, analyse its causes and effects and the measures to address the problem, summarize all the information and make a speech. Teacher give comments on the speeches.

Step 5: Summary 

Find students to summarize what have learned. Then show the mind map.

Step 6: Homework

1. Polish your speech about the environmental protection and write it down.

2.Take one action to reduce the pollution and share it with your classmates.
